In 1840 Muhlenberg Co., KY tax list, it shows Joseph reported 150 acres in Logan County, but in 1841 and later he reported 164 acres on Clifty Creek in Muhlenberg Co., KY. In 1850 Joseph and Sarah were in Muhlenberg Co., KY and in 1860, Sarah was a widow and was living at Rochester in Butler County, Kentucky. At her dwelling were George W. Lacy age 26, Sarah Lacy age 19, John Lacy age 13, all born in Kentucky and James Morrison a blacksmith age 40 who was born in Pennsylvania. On May 25, 1855, Sarah (Hope) Bowling bought a o acre lot on Rochester and Russellville Road in Butler County, Kentucky, adjoining James Hope.
(Deed Book K, P90). She sold that lot on January 31, 1865 (Deed Book L, p383).

On April 11, 1859, Sarah B. Bowling was appointed Administratrix for the estate of Joseph Bowling, (Butler County Order Book F, pp134-426 and 429).
On May 27 1868, F. M. Wood was appointed administrator for the estate of Sarah
(Hope) Bolen/Bowling, deceased (MCKY book 2 p457). There were 7 heirs, but the only ones listed were Jordan Bolen, J. M. Bolen, Martha J. Bolen and John T. Long.
