Lydia Marie was the 6th child of 7, Anson D., Harriett Jane, Charles W., Selina Cordelia, Benjamin S., and Mary born to Ambrose and Susan Olds Corey. Ambrose was the son of Joseph and Prudence Parks Corey of Luzerne Co Pa and Allegany Co NY.
Lydia Marie married Joseph A.Cooper, born to them were three children: Mary, who died young, Charles, Harry and George. Her husband, Joseph preceded her in death three years ago. At the time of his retirement he was president of Edinboro Normal school and retained an active interest in educational affairs until his death. Dr Joseph Cooper, was nationally known for his educational program at the old State Normal, now Edinboro State Teachers College.
He was the second oldest living graduate of Yale University.
They moved to Edinboro PA.in 1861, where their 3 sons were born.

WIDOW OF OLD EDUCATOR DIES
Mrs. Lydia Maria Cooper, ninety six, widow of the late J.A. Cooper, founder of Edinboro Normal School and one of the country's leading educators, died Wednesday in the home of her son, Harry Cooper, Erie st. Edinboro.
Mrs. Cooper, was one of the oldest residents of Erie County, had been seriously ill for several weeks with debilities natural to old age. A stroke she suffered a week ago hastened her death however.
Her husband preceded her in death three years ago. At the time of his retirement he was president of Edinboro Normal school and retained an active interest in educational affairs until his death. He was the second oldest living graduate of Yale University.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Ulysses, Pa., but had resided in Edinboro for the past 61 years. She and her husband had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary a few years before his death.
Besides her son, she is survived by two grandchildren.
Burial will be in Edinboro cemetery.
It is apparent by the obit that her two other sons Charles and George must have died before 1935.

Edinboro, Aug, 9-Mrs. Lydia Maria Cooper, 96, widow of the first president pf the old normal school, now Edinboro State Teachers college, died at the home of her son, Harry.
Mrs. Cooper was known as Edinboro's "Grand Old Lady." She was born in Ulysses, Pa., and lived here 61 years. Dr. Cooper died three years ago at the age of 98. Funeral services for Mrs. Cooper will be held tomorrow.
