Her parents were William and Matilda (Swoffer) Tarzwell. She and her mother survived the forest fire of 1881 which devastated the county by taking shelter down the well on their farm. William was off helping to fight the fire. She married Fred Corwin Rowley on April 18, 1900. They had six children. The oldest child was a daughter who passed away as an infant. She was buried on the family farm under the apple tree. Their other five children lived to be adults and had families and were William Gordon Rowley, Courtis Gwendolyn (Rowley) Carpo, Lenard Merle Rowley, Myrtle Olive (Rowley) Fretenborough, and Norman Oscar Rowley.
