GIBSON CITY – Dell M. Allen, 72, of Huntsville, Mo., formerly of rural Gibson City, died Monday afternoon (April 17, 1989) at University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia, Mo.
His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
Mr. Allen was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Maroa, a son of Francis and Flora Goin Allen. He married Freda B. Gaultney on June 30, 1940. She died July 30, 1961. He later married Rae M. Stewart on Jan. 10, 1963. She died Sept. 13, 1985.
Surviving are one son, David, Huntsville, Mo.; two stepsons, Kenneth Durbin, Hurst, Texas, and Victor Durbin, Sherman, Texas; two daughters, Priscilla Lewis, Columbus, Ohio, and Dorothy Jean Underwood, Fenton, Mo; one stepdaughter, Ethel Parr, Jacksonville, Mo.; five brothers, Kenneth, LeRoy; Orville, Cullom; Wayne, Bement; and Eugene and Elwood, both of Gibson City; two sisters, Flossie Messick, Thomasboro, and Harriett Marcum, LeRoy; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Allen was a resident of Randolph County, Mo., for 25 years.
