Billy Rudan Benton, 90, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel, 509 N. Hughes St., with the Rev. E.J. Cofer, pastor of New Birth Bible Fellowship, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Billy was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Crockett to James and Kittie Benton. He grew up and was educated in Crockett. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1942 until February 1946. He was honorably discharged.
He was a longtime resident of Amarillo and his favorite pastime was fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Benton; a sister; and two brothers.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgette Cooks of Campbell, Calif., and Stephanie Gilbreath of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Brook Cooks of Queens, N.Y.; a sister, Julia Ann McAlister of Nacogdoches; a brother, Joseph Benton of Houston; and a host of nephews and nieces.
