Mrs. Katherine Henry, 97, lifetime resident of Mcnairy County, passed away at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. M. H. Loftin, July 20, 1949. Services held at the Liberty
Methodist Church. Burial in the Liberty cemetery. She was a member of the Liberty
Church. She has talked to her friends many times about her early recollections of
the Civil War. She leaves four generations of survivors: five sons: S. L. Henry
of Bethel Springs, C. H. and J. R. Henry of McNairy, Miles Henry of Selmer, and
Joel Henry of Germantown; three daughters, Mrs. Loftin and Mrs. Jane Owen, both
of McNairy, and Mrs. Martha Ann Hull of Muncie, Indiana; two brothers, Sherman
Plunk of Pontotoc, Miss and George Plunk of Kennett, Mo; two sisters, Mrs. Bud
Bullman of Henderson and Mrs. Ben Stegall of Tula, Texas; 46 grandchildren, 55
great grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. The Independent extends
sympathy to the bereaved.
