Mrs. Macy Pauline West, 94, an amazing lady who loved her family, died Monday morning, October 31, 2011. Her family, her deepest love and her greatest joy, was close to her heart.

Mrs. West, born to the late Henry and Eva Register McGee and the widow of Thurman West. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, William "Hoot" and Henry, Jr. and four sisters, Lillian, Estelle, Rena and Lucille, and a daughter, Eva Jean.
She was the 3rd of eight children, learning the art of making a happy home from her parents. Her greatest desire in life was to be happily married and raise a family. She met and fell in love with Thurman West, and married him on December 16, 1933, and spent 42 happy years being his wife until his death on July 12, 1976. Of all of her accomplishments, she was most proud of her husband and children. Nowhere was she happier than at the home she shared with her family. She was humble, teaching by example, perferring to work behind the scenes without boasting or seeking attention. She was a patient listener-slow to give advice, slow to judge, quick to praise and quick to forgive.
Though our hearts are heavy at the loss of this beautiful woman, we are comforted in knowing that she is once again held within the arms of her husband and that they are both in the loving arms of their Heavenly Father.

Mrs. West is survived by five children, Gladys Horne and husband Ray of Turkey, NC; Bobby West and wife Elaine of Turkey, NC; Ann Hudson and husband John of West Columbia, SC; Faye Fortier and husband Bill of Derry, NH; and Sarah White and husband Ken of Turkey, NC; She had 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren and a few on the way.

The family recieved friends the hour prior services and again following services at the church.

The funeral services were held at 2pm, Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Turkey Baptist Church, Turkey, NC.

Burial was made in Turkey Cemetery, Turkey, NC.

The family entrusted the care of Mrs. West to the Royal-Hall Funeral Home of Clinton.
