US Congressman. Elected as a Whig to represent New Jersey's 2nd District in the US House of Representatives, he served for four months, from March to July 1845. He died before the Twenty-Ninth Congress convened for that year and never officially took his seat. Wright was born in Wrightstown, New Jersey, and was primarily self-educated. For most of his life he was engaged in the maunfacture and selling of iron products in his home state and in Delaware, as well as operating a farm near Imlaystown, New Jersey. Wright's death occurred at the latter location and he was interred at the nearby cemetery. There is a cenotaph in his memory at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.
