Opal M. Reece, 78, of Columbus, died at 8:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Columbus Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Reece was a member of the Independent Baptist faith and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Pastor Michael Gordon officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.

Born in Bartholomew County on Feb. 22, 1931, Mrs. Reece was the daughter of William H. and Edith Sprague Hollman.

Mrs. Reece is survived by her husband, Irvin E. Reece; a son, William Ray Hollman of Columbus; stepchildren, Myra (Robert) Hendrix of Paris Crossing, Robin (Michael) Clerkin of Dupont, Douglas (Susan) Reece of Lovett and Melissa (Troy) Vance of Commiskey; sisters, Bessie Holdiman of North Vernon, Annie (Earl) Ault of Columbus, Gladys (Lawrence) Reece of Hope and Dorothy Moffitt of Columbus; brothers, Kenneth, Ralph and Edward Hollman of Hope and Roy (Ruth) Hollman of Hartsville; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Michael E. Reece; a sister, Betty Hollman; and an infant brother, Charles Hollman.
