Mrs. Layfield Buried Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Bell Layfield, 76, of Hemphill were held at 2 p.m. Monday September 21 in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill. The Rev. Jim Turner, pastor of First Baptist Church, Hemphill, officiated. Burial was in the Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Geneva. Mrs. Layfield died at 6 p.m. Saturday at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. She was a Baptist. Survivors are one son, James D. Layfield, of Vidor; three brothers, Dr. DeWitt Milam (Matthews?) of Monroe La., Frank Matthews of San Augustine and Rexie Matthews of Hemphill; one sister, Mrs. Anna B. Bloodsworth of Memphis, Tenn; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Cavender, Riley Cox, D. B. Speights, Alford Smith, Carlos Boyd and J. D. Morris."Pallbearers were W. W.
