A celebration of life service for James "June" N. Bell Jr., 83, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Gilt Edge Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, with entombment in Walnut Ridge Mausoleum. He died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at University Hospital, Louisville.
A native of Jeffersonville, he was a retired safety specialist for U.S. Naval Ordinance, an Army veteran, a member of the Jeffersonville Optimist Club, the Jeff Travel Club, the NAACP organization and a member of the Gilt Edge Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jo Bell; daughters, June Rochelle "Shelly" Bell and Patricia Lindsey and her husband, Kevin; grandchildren, David Berniard, Shauna Lindsey and Tracey Lindsey; sister, Cara Lewis; brother, Richard E. Bell and his wife, Barbara, of Tacoma, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary E. Bell; sisters, Willie Owens, Helen Brown and Dorothy Spooner; and brother, William Bell.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the church.
