Enid Barnes Benjamin, former resident of Bucklevel Rd., widow of Samuel Louis Benjamin, went to meet the Lord on October 26, 2009 at Wesley Commons.

Born in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late William Macel and Henrietta Pickell Barnes. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Greenwood College of Commerce. Mrs. Benjamin retired from the real estate business in Columbia and worked with her late husband in the beef cattle business in Greenwood.

A member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church and the Friendship Club of the church, she was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #1197 in Augusta, GA. For many years she was an avid fisherman and won awards at Daytona Beach, FL and Cape Hatteras, NC for her large catch. She also enjoyed her travels throughout the US as well as many foreign counties.

She is the last member of her immediate family and is survived only by cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leland Scott officiating.

Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Joe Denton, Andrew Denton, Ellus Burns, Larry Gantt, Jimmy Bannister, Russ McBride, Mike Turner, Hilton Dodgen, Jr., Billy Nabors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 Wednesday afternoon.
