Services for James R. Molter, 60, Fergus Falls Route 5, will be Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m. at Swan Lake Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ralph Holte officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens.
Molter died early Tuesday evening at Lake Region Hospital.
The son of Edward and Sarah Molter, he was born Dec. 23, 1920, at Fergus Falls. He moved with his family to Freeport, I11., living there 14 years before returning to Fergus Falls. He entered the U.S. Army in September 1944 and served in World War II. In 1945, he married Margaret Paulson, Fergus Falls, at Maryland. After his military discharge in July 1946, he returned to the Fergus Falls area where he farmed. He later owned and operated a welder's equipment business for eight years prior to teaching vocational welding at Fergus Falls High School. Most recently, he was employed with Edmund Manufacturing, Ashby, as a machinist.
He married Lila Freitag of Fergus Falls on July 9,1981.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Otter Tail County Sheriff's Posse, and the local Elks.
Surviving are his wife, Lila; three sons, Steven of Barnesville, Jerry of Fergus Falls, and David of Barber's
Point Naval Base, Hawaii; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Kathy)
Anderson of Hazen, N.D.; five stepsons, Matthew Freitag,
Joseph Freitag, and Michael Freitag, all of Fergus Falls,
Gregory Freitag of Fargo and Jeffrey Freitag of West Fargo; five grandchildren and one step-grandchild; two brothers, Emerson and Robert, both of Fergus Falls; and four sisters, Dorothy Sage of Heber Springs, Ark., Pearl Eckert and Mrs. Carl (Ellen) Aschnewitz, both of Dent, and Mrs. Bob (Elizabeth) Fry of Mount Morris, 111.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. Friday at Glende-Johnson-Nelson Funeral Home, continuing one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
