Henry B. Otte

Henry Otte was born December 8, 1890, in Meire Grove. He is the son of Bernard and Anna (Nathe) Otte - parents of 10 children.

The children of Bernard and Anna Otte were raised on a farm in Sections 5 and 8 of Grove Township. The 10 Otte children (siblings of Henry B) are: Joseph, Barney, Mary, Henry, Rosa, Johan, Meinulph, Elizabeth, Julius and Herman.

Henry Otte became the operator and manager of the Melrose Cooperative Creamery in 1917. He held this position for 17 years. He won the title of state champion buttermaker at the state fair in 1919. For 12 years he was secretary of the Central Minnesota Creamery Operatiors Association and served as the preseident for 13 years.

In 1937 he was appointed state dairy and food inspector with headquarters in Duluth, Minn.

Henry Otte married Christine Kramer on November 11, 1914. She died on August 7, 1934 and a year later he married Maragret Friederichs.

Henry B. Otte died August 20, 1943 at the age of 61 years. He is buried in Plot 2 of Row 4 in Section B, next to both his wives.
