The native of Shawnee Okla. was a state resident since 1913. He had operated a floor finishing business here for many years and had worked as a gunsmith.
Eckroat is survived by his widow, Fern; sons, John of Sunol, Alameda County, Peter of Los Gato,s Santa Clara County, Dale of Lake Isabella, Kern County, and Darrel of Chico; daughters Donna Mc Key of Chico and Delores March of Roseville; sisters Virginia Currie of Hemet, Riverside County, and Florence Owen of Garden Grove, Orange County; brothers Joe of Dixon and Marion of Yakima, Wash., and six grandchildren. - Contributed by Bob Atherton, via email August 11, 2021.
