In 1908 he married (3) widow Claude (Philpot) Smith, with three children of her own. Together they were parents of Vivian (Glass) Whatley Higginbotham Mulligan, Thelma J. (Glass) Chatehain, and Earline Glass.
He died of lip cancer.
