Former New Castle Man Dies
In Truck Wreck Near Bedford

James (Finnigan) Allen, 26, a former resident of New Castle, was killed Thursday evening in a truck accident on Indiana 54 near Avoca, while en-route to his home in Bedford. Mr. Allen was employed by the Ward Baking Co. The truck went out of control and overturned, Allen was killed instantly.
He had resided in Bedford for the past four years. He was a member of the American Legion post there and a member of the Legion chorus.
He was born and reared here and formerly was employed at the Coca-Cola company's plant. Mr. Allen served four years in the U. S. Navy after the close of WWII.
Services will be conducted Monday morning at 10 o'clock in the Bay and Carter Mortuary in Bedford and burial will be in the cemetery there. Friends may call at the mortuary after 6 o'clock this evening.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Helen Allen; a daughter, Tandi; his parents, Cleveland Allen of New Castle and Mrs. Hallie Allen of Anderson; two brothers: Norman Allen of New Castle, and Billy Allen of Anderson; and three sisters: Mrs. Christine Jordan of Muncie, Mrs. O. E. Lawless and Mrs. Lester Lockhart, both of New Castle.
