Lowell S. Byse, 90, of 644 34th St. SE, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in his home following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.Dr. Robert Bouton of Knox Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial
Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after noon Saturday. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Survivors include
his wife of 70 years, Reta; their children, Marie Montgomery and husband Don of Vinton, Lowell C. Byse and wife Geri of Cedar Rapids and Patricia Schuetzle of Delhi, Iowa; a sister Ina Fay Gatto of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren;eight great-grandchildren; and 11 great-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and a grandson, Stephen Montgomery. Lowell was born Aug. 25 1912, in Meltonville, Iowa, the son of John and Maggie Mae Stinson Byse. He married Reta R. Sills on Oct. 17, 1932, in
Rock Island, 111. Lowell worked as a truck driver for John Blaul's Co. and in the industrial department at Iowa Radio. Lowell and Reta were both charter members and elders at Knox Presbyterian Church. Lowell was a member of Knights of Pythias and Cedar Rapids Eagles Club.
A memorial fund has been established.
