Born September 11, 1921, in Pekin, Illinois to August and Cora Faux, she married Edward O. Austin on July 27, 1941 in Missouri. He survives in Sarasota, FL.
Surviving are two sons, JW (Sharon) Austin of Sarasota, Florida, John (Marge) Austin of Hopedale, Illinois; two daughters, Jody (Terry) Hierman of Centennial, CO, and Kora (David) Kirgan of Rogers, AR, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Ray Faux of Pekin, Il. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Louise Deakin, all of Pekin.
Leona graduated from Pekin High School, and the Institute of Ministry at Christian Retreat in Bradenton, Florida. She owned and operated Jack and Jill Nursery School in Pekin for 14 years. She was a member of Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin, and was a past officer of Fun and Sports at Tri-Par Estates in Sarasota, Florida. She enjoyed bowling, euchre, shuffleboard, and square dancing.
Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with Rev. Harmen Heeg officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin, Il. Memorials may be made to Normandale Reformed Church, Pekin
