JK was a well known Methodist Church pastor having served at many southwest Missouri churches during his ministry. Some of these churches included Golden City, Mt. Vernon in in Joplin at Mission Heights and Byers Avenue where he was serving at the time of his retirement. Prior to becoming a full time pastor he had his own auto and farm equipment repair shop in Golden City Missouri during the 1950's and early 1960's. Before moving to Golden City in 1953 he was engaged in a farming operation.
JK was a preference of many families when it came time to have a funeral for their loved one. He performed, according to his last known entry on November 25, 2000, 4958 services offering compassion, love and comfort to each family.
He also was a favorite of many to perform wedding ceremonies having, according to his last know entry on October 21, 2000, performed 836 weddings.
