Son of the late Henry and Esta Kile Kimble.

Mr. Melvin "Pop" Golden Kimble, 91, a resident of Harrisonburg, joined his wife in heaven on Monday evening December 20, 2010.
He was born on March 25, 1919 in West Virginia and was the son of the late Henry and Esta Kile Kimble.

Mr. Kimble had moved to Harrisonburg from Dayton in 1955 and was employed for 61 years with Swift and Co. and Wampler before retiring. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He served as a medic with the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater.

In 1946, he married Bertha Dawne Alder, who preceded him in death on August 1, 2009. He also was preceded in death by a sister and several brothers.

Pop was totally dedicated to his family. He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Kelsey, and Karan Lunstra and husband, Don, all of Richmond; three grandchildren, Shawn Fenner and wife, Sarah, Brandon Fenner and wife, Connie, and Kyle Dawne Kelsey, all of Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Mulik, Josh Fenner, Tommy Kelsey, Ethan Fenner and Graysen Fenner all of Richmond; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 23, at the funeral home with Dr. E. Thomas Murphy, Jr. officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1477, Harrisonburg, VA 22803.
