US Congressman. He graduated from Williams College Massachusetts, in 1807, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1812 and commenced to practice law in Lisbon, New York. He was clerk of the board of supervisors of St. Lawrence County, (1820-52), district attorney of St. Lawrence County, (1821-40 and a member of the New York State Assembly, (1846-47, 1849). In 1853, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress, serving until 1855. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 79.
