Mr. Cence was the owner of the former Cence Towing Co. from 1968 to 1998.
He graduated from McKee High School.
Mr. Cence served as president of the Mariners Harbor Yacht Club, according to his family.
His wife, the former Madeline DeNull, died in 1999.
Surviving are his two sons, David C. Jr. and Paul; his daughter, Valerie Diehl; and six grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners. The Rev. Paul B. Conner II of Zion Lutheran Church, Willowbrook, will officiate.
Burial will be in Silver Mount Cemetery, Silver Lake.
