Geneva Luinenburg, 84, passed from this world on January 3, 2011.

She was born to Lawrence and Nellie Van Hofwegen on July 28, 1926 near Round Lake, MN.

She attended Worthington High School and graduated with the class of 1943.

On November 21, 1947, she married Marvin Luinenburg, becoming wife, mother and homemaker on their farm near Brewster. From a young age, she played the organ and the piano at the Worthington Christian Reformed Church, where she was a life-long member.

She worked for several years as a bookkeeper at Davis Typewriter. In 1989, they moved from the farm to Worthington, spending winters in Alamo, Texas.

They enjoyed traveling, including several trips to foreign countries. Her needlework creations will long be treasured by her family and friends. She and Marvin were active members of the Turkey Trotters Square Dance Club for many years.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her parents-in-law, Henry and Marie Luinenburg, her brother Adrian Van Hofwegen; brothers-in-law Dick Hofstee, Richard Dykstra, Walter Mellema, Pete Hofstee, Harry Luinenburg, Kenneth Dykema, Bernie Van Roekel; sisters-in-law Ann Mellema Van Roekel, Gertrude Luinenburg, Henrietta "Sis" Van Hofwegen, and great-grandson Jayden Alexander Poole.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Luinenburg; three children: Marla (Ken) Fransen of Buford, Georgia, Sheryl (Tom) Lehman of Vashon, Washington, Jerry of Brewster; grandchildren: Britney (Lara) Fransen of Adrian, Minnesota, Monte (Christian) Fransen of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Alea (Jonathan) Poole of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Elin (DJ) Ashler of Lowry, Minnesota, Robin Untiedt of Lakefield, Minnesota, Marci (Nick) Moshier of Brewster, and Baird Lehman of Seattle, Washington; 4 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn and Carter Fransen, Haylee Untiedt, and Caleb Ashler; sisters Arlene Hofstee and Norma Dykstra; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Clara Hofstee, Gilbert and Mary Obermoller, John and Leona Luinenburg and Grace Dykema.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Reformed Church, Worthington.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Christian Reformed Church, Worthington. Casket bearers will be Britney Fransen, Monte Fransen, DJ Ashler, Nick Moshier, Baird Lehman, and Mark Dykstra.

Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
