Betty Whatley Blair, 90, of Hankamer, died Monday, February 16, 2004, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004, at the Anahuac Cemetery with Rev. Everett Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m., today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Betty was born January 2, 1914 in Haskell to parents, Willis and Ouida McElroy Whatley, and has resided in the Hankamer area for the past 66 years. She was a homemaker, member of the Fine Arts Club of Anahuac, graduated high school in Graham, helped the WWII effort building aircraft engines, and enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and the outdoors in general.
Mrs. Blair was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sandy Blair Clamon, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Sherwood Blair of Hankamer; daughter, Sherwood K. Dye and husband Charles of Baytown; two grandchildren, Clay Dye and wife Shannon and Courtney Dye Allen and husband Mike, all of Hankamer; two great-grandchildren, Cade Allen Dye and Marshall ?Dean? Allen, both of Hankamer; three nephews, Roy Williams and wife Doris of Montgomery, Chris Williams of Tyler and Willis Whatley and wife Suzie of Colorado; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In lieu of usual floral remembrances, the family requests that donations be made to the Anahuac Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 926, Anahuac, TX 77514.
