Continental Chapter of SAR placed govt marker, 27 Apr 1964. Proof of service: Pension R. 2630, Maryland. Applied for pension, 15 Jul 1835 in Delaware Circuit Court, stating he served under his father, Josiah Dale (Ref: Kemper, 20th Century History of Delaware Co IN, Vol 1 page 18)

Revolutionary War veteran, Private, Maryland Militia, Sinepuxent (Bay) Battalion of Worcester Co under Capt Josiah Dale during the time that Cornwallis entered Chesapeake Bay (1780-1781). His pension was denied because he served less than 6 mos. Cornwallis surrendered on 19 Oct 1781. Filed in Muncietown, Delaware Co IN (rejected pension per ancestry.com record)

Delaware Co Land Patents, 3-28-1827 & 4-24-1827 (over 410 acres) Campbell Dale owned the land on which the village of Daleville was built. (History of Delaware Co, Salem Township) Sale of the first lots in Daleville was in 1838.

Parents: Josiah Dale (1736-1795) & Tabitha Campbell (1724-1814) of Worcester MD. Josiah served as Capt in Maryland Militia in American Revolution. Josiah inherited part of the John Dale Plantation in 1782. Campbell Dale inherited 1 slave girl. Ref: Will of John Dale, proved 8 Jan 1782, Worcester MD. Family records of the Dale family are in St Martin's Church Parish, Showell, Worcester Co MD. (There are only 2 known burials in the St Martin's Church cemetery and they are not Dale's.)

Note: St Martins Church is about 12 miles west of Ocean City MD between Showell & Berlin MD.

In 1794 Worcester Co, Josiah Dale willed "Green Swamp" to his son Campbell Dale. In 1850, John Milbourn Dale enlarged this property and called it Green Swamp Enlarged.
