GRAVE 2065 appears to be a double burial. The first soldier should be 2nd Lieutenant William T. Abernathy Company B, 32nd Regiment, Tennessee Infantry, CSA.
According to the regimental history of the 32nd Regiment, Tennessee Infantry it was organized on October 28, 1861 and William T. Abernathy is shown as being mustered into service with the regiment on October 19, 1861 at Camp Trousdale, Tennessee. (Camp Trousdale was located in Sumner County Tennessee). Citing the company history with this regiment is the following: "This company was successively designated as Captain Winstead's company Tennessee Volunteers and as companies G & B, 32nd Regiment, Tennessee Infantry".
Upon further research 2nd Lieutenant Abernathy was with Company B at the end of December of 1861. Therefore when he was captured and died he did so as a member of Company B. 2nd Lieutenant Abernathy was captured at Fort Donelson, Tennessee with the majority of his regiment on February 16, 1862 and arrived at the Camp Chase prison on March 1, 1862. He was described on 1 March 1862 as being 26 years of age (born about 1836), dark hair, gray eyes and height 6 feet. He was admitted to the Camp Chase hospital on March 6, 1862 and all records indicate that he died on March 9, 1862. According to the Camp Chase hospital records he died of both typhoid fever and pneumonia. His Compiled Military Service Records only state pneumonia as the cause of death.
