Susan A., daughter of William and Mary Adams, was born in Loudon County, Virginia, July 21, 1820 and died at her home in Marshall, Illinois, May 18, 1907, aged 86 years, 9 months and 26 days.

She united in marriage to A. N. Ross February 27, 1855. To this union 6 children were born, two of whom died in infancy.
The same year of their marriage, they moved from Virginia to Illinois and located in Jasper County for a few months then moved to Clark County where they lived until the winter of 1861 when on account of poor health they returned to Virginia and stayed until 1864 when they came back to Illinois. They lived on their farm in Wabash until 1891 when they moved to Marshall.

She united with the M. E. Church in 1835, being a member for 72 years.

The husband and four children, Claudius of Terre Haute, Mrs. Charles Davison of Wabash and Sextus and Mrs. James Welsh of Marshall besides a host of friends and relatives.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Sunday afternoon, Rev. F.W. Moore officiating, after which the remains were laid in the Marshall Cemetery.
