Mr. Richards was a member of Parley's First Ward High Priest Quorum. He graduated from Uintah High School in 1942 and attended Utah State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. During World Ward II, he joined the Marines, where he was attached to the First Marine Air Wing in the South Pacific. Following the war he returned to Vernal, Utah where he worked for Texaco. He was a great lover of the outdoors, especially the Uintah Mountains with their abundant lakes. He loved hunting and fishing, and recently returned from an Alaskan fishing trip with his wife, children, son-in-law and grandchildren.

Though his health prohibited him from flying, he never lost his love for piloting small planes. During the course of his illness. Mr. Richards was cared for by numerous physicians and the nursing staff of both University of Utah and Veterans Hospitals. Their care and friendships were so appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his home care nurses, Gayle Handrahan and Kathy Decker, Dr. Peter Lawrence and the office staff of Dr. Frank Tyler. He made life long friends of every doctor that treated him during his 51 year battle with diabetes.
