Christine Price
December 22, 1920 - July 11, 2009

Mary Christine Walsh Price died peacefully July 11, 2009 in Greenville, Texas.
She was born December 22, 1920 in Texarkana, Texas, to the late Mamie Raffaelli Walsh and Roland Walsh.
Mrs. Price was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School in Texarkana, and it was while she was a cheerleader for Sacred Heart that her future husband, Barnette Price, spotted her and told a friend that was the girl he wanted to marry. That occurred soon after they graduated, and they were married for 62 years. They started their family, but then Barnette joined the Army during World War II, serving in the European theater.
After the war, Mr. Price managed Kays jewelry store in Texarkana until transferring to Wichita Falls, Texas for a larger store. They prospered there for a number of years before returning to Texarkana in 1959.
Mrs. Price was very involved in civic and social work. She became an accomplished bridge player and honed her cooking skills to become a gourmet cook. She always had a dreamy Italian cream cake or her spaghetti and meatballs ready for family and visitors. She was devoted to cooking and caring for her family, and especially cherished the Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday time. After her husband Barnette died in 2002, she moved to Greenville, Texas where her eldest daughter, Jeanne and her husband, Dutch Meyer, lovingly cared for her.
In her final years, she became frail but never complained, and a true spirit of peace settled upon her. At the end, she had a peace of heart through her love for the Catholic Church and her God, who had given her a wonderful family and long life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Rayfield Walsh and his wife, Melba of Texarkana.
Her survivors are two daughters, Jeanne Meyer and her husband Dutch of Greenville, Texas; Yvonne Yates and her husband Tommy of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sons, Barnette Price Jr. and his wife Jan of Texarkana, Texas and Richard Price of Texarkana, Texas; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be prayed Funeral Mass will be held in St. Williams of the Cross Church in Greenville. Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Texarkana, Texas.
