Betsey was born to parents Morris Chase and Eliza Driggs who eventually moved to Knox County, Illinois. She married her first cousin Albert Pingrey the son of Solomon Pingrey and Eliza Ann Chase of Andover, Allegany County, New York. Albert Pingrey was a Methodist Minister Circuit Rider and preached the gospel in New York, Illinois and Michigan. Albert died in 1879 in Huron County, Michigan, his grave yet to be located. Betsey returned to Knox County, Illinois, then in 1907 moved with her family to Chico, California. Betsey rode horse escort in a campaign parade for presidential hopefull, Abraham Lincoln in Illinois when a young woman.
