Mr. Mooney retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1959 after 34 years service. An engineer, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers. He was a charter member of American Legion Post 9, and World War I Veterans organization having served in France during World War I.
Born April 19, 1897, in Chillicothe, he was a son of William and Anna Burke Mooney. He married Grace Hook Todd Sept. 1, 1928.
Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Lewis of Kewanee, Mrs. Sandra Lyons, Peoria, and Mrs. Juanita Swanson, Chillicothe; two brothers, Herman Mooney, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Fred Mooney, Las Vegas, New Mexico; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward's church with the Rev. Richard Raney officiating. Burial was in City cemetery.
Weber Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
