Wabaunsee – Died – Mr. Haines died at his home in Zeandale, May 2nd, 1888, age 84. The family have a great many friends here who sympathize with them in their bereavement.

Since the gravestone says he died May 1st and the funeral notice says he died May 2nd, who knows which is right?? I have seen so many mistakes on gravestones and especially in obits and funeral notices over the years that it is difficult to know at time which is right. In this case the funeral notice was published 8 to 9 days after Joseph died.
