William L. Bittner attended the Methodist Conference at Prairie Chapel Church near Earl on Saturday and Sunday.

William L. Bittner, Grocer, of Calwood Missouri.
Lewis Bittner father of William was a native of Germany and after coming over to this country was married in Pennsyvania to Miss Maria Caroll where the son, William, was born on August 22, 1837. In 1855 the parents moved to Clayton County, Iowa where William grew up to manhood.

He was reared to farm life and followed that in Iowa until 1863 when he came to Missouri and located in Fulton, Missouri, here the following year on the 16 of August 1864 he was married to Mrs Amanda Natton, widow of the late Hugh Natton of Warren County, Missouri and daughter of Alfred and Sythi Fisher of Fulton, Missouri.

Mr Bittner engaged in the Hotel Buisness which he followed sucessfully for some time in 1868. He moved to Franklin County, Missouri and engaged in farming where he remained for five years returning them to Callaway County, He continued the occupation of farming until March 1882 when he engaged in the grocery buisness in Calwood, Missouri.

Mr Bittner carries a large and well selected stock of goods in his time he was a energetic man perfectly upright in his dealings and his custoers and is justly very poplar by his former marriage, Mrs Bittner reared two daughters, Martha F and Mary A. the wives respectively of J.T. and Milton Breckenbridge, the younger of the two however being deceased. Mr and Mrs Britner are both members of M.E. Church South and both highly esteemed as neighbors and acquitances.


Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
