John S. Blake, Jr.

John S. Blake, Jr., 52, of 120 Pickwick Place, Millersville,died on Thursday at the Lancaster General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Lois Charles Blake. They celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary in August of 2004.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of John S., Sr. and Mary Blake of Mt. Vernon, Indiana. He was retired on disability. John was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Lancaster. He served as the Director of Men s Ministry and was actively involved in various church activities. His greatest joy was his Grandchildren.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend John s Funeral Services from the New Life Assembly of God Church, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at 11:00AM with his Pastor the Rev. Stanley Williams officiating. Friends may call at the New Life Assembly of God Church on Tuesday from 9:30AM  11:00AM. Interment will follow the Service in Habecker s Mennonite Cemetery, Central Manor, PA. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions in John s memory to the New Life Assembly of God Church, 1991 Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602 would be deeply appreciated.

Was formerly known as John Stephan Baniszewski.
As a 12-year-old, John participated in the torture of a young girl, Sylvia Likens, in 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana. His mother Gertrude was convicted of the girl's murder and was sentenced to life in prison initially. On May 19, 1966, after deliberating for eight hours, the jury found John Baniszewski Jr. guilty of manslaughter. He received a sentence of 2-to-21 years to be served in the Indiana Reformatory.
