Grant Lawrence Atwood

Grant Lawrence Atwood, 93, of Pleasant Grove passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2006.

He was born August 16, 1912 in Pleasant Grove to Lawrence Atwood and Cora Warnick Atwood.

He married Florence VanNoy on January 26, 1941 in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple.

Grant was born and raised in Pleasant Grove, and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He attended USAC in Logan and ran several service stations. He attended diesel engine school in Los Angeles and worked there driving city buses.

Grant and Florence adopted Roy in 1948 then moved a few years later back to Pleasant Grove to help his father with his insurance and real estate business.

He retired from the insurance business in 1991.

Grant has served on the PG City Council, PG Chamber of Commerce, Strawberry Days Queen Committee and Parade Committee, PG Beautification Commission and most offices in the Lions Club.

He also held many church callings.

Grant is survived by his son Roy (Sharon) Atwood of Highland.

Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 12:00 noon in the Timpanogos Stake Center, 800 North 100 West, Pleasant Grove.

A viewing will be held that morning from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
