Florence Arnold

Florence Arnold, 62, owner of Arnold's store and a lifelong resident of the Walker community died Friday evening, August 6 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Miss Arnold was born March 13, 1903 in Buchanan County, the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Arnold.

She was a graduate of the Walker High School and graduated from Coe College in 1924. She also attended the University of Colorado at Denver. She taught school In Dysart, Quasqueton and Wilton Junction.

For the last 35 years Miss Arnold owned and operated Arnold's store in Walker. She was a member of the Cono Center Presbyterian Church, rural Walker, and a member of the Walker chapter of the O.E.S.

Survivors include many cousins.

Services were held Sunday evening at the Murdock Funeral home In Walker by the Walker chapter of the O.E.S. Funeral services were held Monday, August 9 at the Cono Center Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Russell Palmer of Iowa City officiating. Burial was In the Quasqueton cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers wore Henry Smith, John Lessenhop, H. W. McCright, Harold Kayser, Jack Kayser, Bill McCalley, Marvin Shatter and Rudy Neumeyer.

Pallbearers wore Gilbert and Vernon Arnold, Verle Kimmerle, Ralph Zimpfer, and Frank and Arley Daubenberger.

Friends may contribute to the Cono Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
