Siobhan was a beautiful gray English budgie who was just full of that budgie hen personality. When she was very young she used to make a nest in my cupped hands. She would march right up to you and look you right in the eye as if to say, "You may be big, but you don't scare ME!" She once stared the vet right in the face and scolded him.

Siobhan could say a few words of non-budgie, but she seldom did. "Vonnie" was one of the things she did say. She did not like to be active, and she preferred toddling along to flying.

Budgies normally have six "throat spots" which they wear under their beaks like a decorative necklace; Vonnie had twelve well-formed spots including one shaped like a heart (see photo). English budgies tend to have more spots, but it is unusal to see them so symmetrical. "Miss Grey" was just beautiful and she knew it.

As Vonnie grew older, she grew prone to respiratory problems, and though treated successfully several times, eventually she did not survive one. She was missed by her friend Lacey who died later the same year.
