Walter G. Thomas
STILTZ – Funeral services for Walter G. Thomas, 63, husband of Mrs. Sadie Brenneman Thomas, Glen Rock RD 3, who was killed Friday when a tractor overturned on him while mowing a field at his home, will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The Rev. Elmo D. Beck, pastor of Jerusalem (Fissel's) United Church of Christ congregation, Mr. Thomas' minister, will officiate at the services at Jerusalem Church. Burial will be in adjoining cemetery.
Dr. A. M. France, of Parkton, attributed a crushed chest as the cause of death, in his report as Baltimore County Medical Examiner.
Mr. Thomas also belonged to the Sunday School and the Men's Bible Class at Jerusalem Church and had been a resident of the Steltz area for the past 43 years. He was born in Carroll County, Md., a son of the late John and Roxie Wildasin Thomas.
For the past 27 years, he was employed by Sieling Furniture Co., Railroad, as a woodworker in the mill room. He held memberships in Friendly Lodge 287, Knights of Pythias, Glen Rock; Local Union 468, Upholsters International Union and was a former member of the then Foremen's Club of York.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are: Two children, Mrs. Elvin Baer, Glen Rock RD 3, and Mrs. Dale Werner, Hanover RD 2; three grandchildren; five brothers, Raymond L. Thomas, Clark A. Thomas and John W. Thomas, all of Glen Rock RD 3; Stewart F. Thomas, New Freedom RD 1, and Ralph E. Thomas, Shrewsbury, and three sisters, Mrs. Walter C. Smith and Mrs. Paul M. Dehoff, both of Glen Rock RD 1, and Mrs. Frank M. Whitcraft, New Freedom RD 1.
