FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1902
Captain A. B. Hardin died Saturday morning about 7 o'clock at his residence in this city. He had been in feeble health for a number of yars, but was up and able to look after his affairs until a short time before his death. He was more than 83 years of age, having been born in 1819 in the state of Tennessee. He came to Texas in an early day, and had witnessed much of the development and growth of the state. Much of this world's goods had been accumulated by him, and it is understood that the larger part of it had been disposed of by will before his death. His property is in Lampasas, Grimes and Leon counties, and consists of city property here and farms and city property in the other counties. His wife died several years ago, and all his immediate descendants are dead. He leaves two grand-children, Frank Hardin, well known here, and a little daughter of A. B. Hardin, jr., in Leon county. Mrs. J. F. Skinner, of this city, is a cousin of the old gentleman. His remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery here Sunday afternoon, and the funeral was largely attended.
