FREDERICK C. WILLIAMS RITES
Manchester, Nov. 30. - The funeral of Frederick C. Williams, 76, former owner of the Munson house here and former manager of the Battenkill inn at Manchester Depot, was held at Manchester Center November 17.
The high mass of requiem was sung by the Rev. Father Ready, pastor of St. Paul's Catholic church and burial was in Arlington where Mrs. Williams and three of their children are buried.
Mr. Williams, who died November 13 in New York of coronary thrombosis, was born at New Castle under Lyme, Staffordshire, England, the son of Andrew and Catharine Williams.
He came to New York as a young man to study and learn the American customs of hotel management, and upon completion of this study expected to return to his native country and to his parents who owned an inn in England. After being in New York, Chicago and other cities, he came to Manchester. While here he met and married Mary F. Campbell, daughter of Edward and Susan Campbell. Mrs. Williams died April 2, 1932.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams owned and operated the Munson house in Manchester, now known as the 1811 House.
Mr. Williams, his wife and family also managed the Battenkill inn at Manchester Depot.
For the past 20 years the family has lived in New York city. Mr. Williams was associated with the late Walter P. Price and also the Brook club of New York. About eight years ago he was forced to retire because of a rheumatic condition.
Mr. Williams is survived by 10 children, Margaret, James, Mary Bullis, Catharine Arthur, Susan, Joseph, Sarah Gibbons, Louise Mears, John and Grace; 10 grandchildren and a sister, Nellie Williams of Stafford, England.
