SOL CROWN

(Farmington, Ia., News.)

Sol Crown, son of William and Lucy Crown, was born in Kansas on March 31, 1868, and passed away at his home on January 19, 1944, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 18 days. He was one of a family of ten of whom three are still living.

Although in failing health for some time, he was seriously ill for only three weeks.

Mr. Crown came, with his family, to a farm in Farmington township when he was only a year old. Since that time he has never lived outside of Farmington township.

He was united in marriage to Linnie Goodenough in 1891. To this union two children were born: Clarence Dale, who died in infancy and Harold of Farmington. One sister, Mrs. Alice Boyer lives in Farmington and two brothers, Sherman of Washington and Ernest of Farmington are still living.

He was a carpenter for thirty years until he moved to the present home in 1922. For the past twenty-two years he has been growing fruit.

He was a strong advocate of the Golden Rule and lived strictly up to it. He was a loving husband and father and a friend to everyone with whom he came in contact. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on August 31, 1941. His interests were all in his home, where he will be greatly missed. His cheery smile, loving care, and ready wit and humor made home so beautiful both for his family and many friends.

Funeral services were held from the Baptist church of Farmington on Friday afternoon, January 21, at 2:30 p. m., with the Rev. Warren L. Green officiating. Jack Ferris sang two solos accompanied by Mrs. Clyde Boyer. The pallbearers were Wm. Woodworth, Harry Smith, Earl Muntz, Warren Martin, Lem Henry and Clarence McCrary. Interment was in the Farmington cemetery.

Among out-of-town people attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Johnson of Revere, Mo.
