GASTONIA - Bessie Jane Dye Mull Alexander, 106,
died Oct. 28, 2008, at Stanley Total Living
Center in Stanley.
She was born in Fannin County, Georgia,
daughter of the late William Gordon and
Catherine Magness Dye.
Mrs. Alexander was the oldest member
of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, Gastonia
where she was a Sunday school teacher for
over 20 years and hosted cottage prayer
meetings on Saturday and Sunday. After the
death of her mother, she helped raise her
brothers and sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Magdalene
Jacobs of Stanley, Dorothy Davis of Gastonia;
sister-in-law, Mary Reese Dye of Gastonia and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
first husband, Thurman Mull; second husband,
Randolph Alexander; son, Ralph Mull; five brothers, Hubert Dye, Hobert Dye, Jack Dye, Arthur Dye
and Tom Dye; four sisters, Vera Rayfield, Billie
Dye, Cora McCorkle and Elizabeth Garmon.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday
at Sandy Plains Baptist Church with the
Rev. Steve Hensley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10
to 11 a.m. Friday at Sandy Plains Baptist
Church.
Interment will be in Sandy Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made
