Services for Mrs. Virginia Clendenin, 62, of 3612 Geraldine, will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday in the Putnam City Christian church. Burial will be in Memorial Park
cemetery under direction of the Merritt funeral home.
Mrs. Clendenin, mother-in-law of publisher-author-humorist Bennet Cerf, died in
her home Thursday.
Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mrs. Clendenin was past president of unit 12 of
the American Legion auxiliary. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern
Star and Putnam City Christian church.
Survivors include her husband, A. C. Clendenin, of the home; two daughters, Mrs.
Bennet Cerf, New York City, and Mrs. Gene Sylvester, a son, Phillip James
Clendenin, of the home, and four sisters, Mrs. Lela Rogers, Beverly Hills,
Calif.; Mrs. Venton Hayworth, living in California; Mrs. Don Robertson, Chicago,
Ill., and Mrs. Inez Squires, Renton, Wash.
