Mary Ann was the oldest of four children born to Mr. Richard H and Mary Waterfall. She was born in London, Canada, West. In 1845 the family came to Niagara Falls. In 1859 they came to Henry, IL.

On April 8, 1862, she married Richard B. Mutton of Whitefield, IL. They had two children. Effie Norma who died at infancy and Louis Mutton. Mr. Richard Mutton died early. Mary Ann then married Andrew Anderson of Lone Tree, IL in her father's home February 15, 1877. They had one child together Erah Maude Anderson. Mary lived with her daughter and son-in-law Abraham John Stapp from 1902 until her death.

Mary Ann was a faithful member and worker in the Episcopal church. She was a member of the Henry Chapter of the Eastern Star.
