Lillian May (Messer) Haas, 92, formerly of Willow Street, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Mennonite Home. Born January 28, 1918 in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late William G. and Kathryn (Kinsley) Messer. She will be lovingly missed by her husband, Thomas Haas, of Washington Boro. Lillian was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl K. Ament, in 1962.
Mrs. Haas attended the chapel at the Mennonite Home. She was a former member of the Willow Street Senior Citizens Club. Lillian was employed as a housekeeper at Millersville University for 14 years. She enjoyed bus trips, gardening, and flowers. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Lillian is survived by her sons: Charles, husband of Earla (McVey) Ament and Earl R., husband of Belinda (Barr) Ament, all of Washington Boro; her daughter: Rose, wife of Ronald Barley of Lancaster; a stepson: Thomas, husband of Chris Haas of Summit, NJ; five grandchildren, four step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Freda Guhl.
Services will be private and at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Home Caring Fund, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17604.
