Mrs. Howard was a native of Bladen County, North Carolina and had lived in the Tidewater area since in the 1940s. She often attended Parkway Temple in Chesapeake. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, James A. Howard; two sons, James R. Howard and Robert A. Howard; a brother, Thomas Ellis; a sister, Alice D. Patton; a sister-in-law, Christian Howard; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Bobby and Ronnie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John. O. and Rosa A. Ellis, and her son Timothy Ellis Howard and four siblings.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. A chapel service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Ernest Trueblood. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
