Ralph H. Behrman, 82, of Deaver Road died at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in a traffic accident west of Cincinnati.

He was manager of the A&P Grocery on Washington Street from 1934 to 1951 and then worked for Cummins Engine Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1980 from the warranty department.

He served with the Army in France and Germany during World War II and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school for more than 60 years.

Funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Rev. William Cordes officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American veterans.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Behrman was born in Bartholomew County Feb. 18, 1916, the son of Frank and Selma Langebrake Behrman. He married Mary Ethel Curry Nov. 26, 1939, in Columbus. She died Dec. 26, 1995.

Surviving are sons, John D. and Dennis M. Behrman, both of Columbus; a daughter, Jane L. Hinsky of Lawrenceburg; brothers, Melvin, Harold and Victor Behrman, all of Columbus, and Lester Behrman of Westport; a sister, Marjorie Vogt of Columbus; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph David Behrman.

Columbus man killed in wreck

GREENDALE -- A Columbus man was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when he pulled his car into the path of a pickup truck in Dearborn County.

Ralph Behrman, 82, of Deaver Road was killed when he pulled onto U.S. 50. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:15 p.m. accident. His passenger, Irene Wagner, 82, of State Street was treated at Dearborn County Hospital and released, said Officer Pam Taylor of Greendale Police Department.

Greendale is near Lawrenceburg west of Cincinnati.

The driver of the pickup truck and his passengers, including a 6-year-old boy, refused treatment at the scene of the accident.

Funeral arrangements for Behrman are pending at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel, on 25th Street.
