Mr. Birks was born in Latham Aug. 28, 1872. His life was passed in Latham, Harristown and Decatur. He was a livestock dealer and trader and was known all over the county. He was a member of the First Methodist church. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge in Mt. Pulaski and was a member of the Royal Arch Masons, the Commandery and of the Mohammed Temple of the Mystic Shrine of Peoria.
He leaves a son, Roy V. Birks and a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Birks Fathauer, both of Decatur.
