Victor was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Seneca to Jesse Claude and Maggie May Lutes Paxton. Victor attended school in Thomas County.
On Oct. 5, 1940, Victor married Hazel Tupper in Ogallala. To this union three children were born. He was a lifelong rancher in Thomas and McPherson counties and also a rural mail car-rier for several years. He was very dedicated to his work, livestock and family and was very active in ranching until they moved to North Platte in 2004. In his younger years he enjoyed the baseball games and rodeos that he organized.
Mr. Paxton was loved by many and trusted by all who knew him. He really enjoyed the phone calls from the hills, especially from Lloyd.
Survivors include his wife of North Platte; a daughter, Shirley (Russell) Eggers of North Platte; two sons, Ronald (Linda) Paxton of Stapleton, and Larry (Laurie) Paxton of Sanford, Texas; a sister, Fay Connell of Stapleton; a brother, Kermit Paxton of Stapleton; eight grand-children, Arlan (Sarah) Paxton, Dana (Ethan) Epley, Dusty (Mindy) Paxton, Susanne (Nathan) Lukas, Kristen (Bo) Uhrmacher, and Amanda, Tom, and Alex Paxton; and 12 great-grandchildren, Alecia, Jess and Jade Paxton, Cole, Hayden, Hallie, and Emma Epley, Aubrea, Molly, and Eli Paxton, Cassidy and Carter Lukas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ivy Haynes and Cleo Neal; three broth-ers, Edwin "Vern," Von and Chester Paxton; and a grandson, Steven Schaffert.
Memorials may be directed to the American Kidney Foundation.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Tryon Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Mote and Lila Picton officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery near Tryon.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and before services Monday at the church.
